RAFFI VARTANIAN

Raffi Vartanian brings a decade of experience in the private shipping and logistics sector. He is a shareholder and director of East Africa Courier Services, headquartered in Djibouti, which operates the franchise of global courier and logistics firm, Aramex, offering service across Djibouti, Somaliland and Somalia. He is also a director of Freight Investor Solutions, a leading freight derivatives brokerage house with focus on the dry bulk and iron ore markets. In 2009, he began work in Afghanistan on the development of a dry fruit and nut facility to clean, sort, grade and process high quality products and facilitate trade between Afghanistan and retailers in the United Arab Emirates, India and East Asia. Prior to his move to Dubai, he lived and worked in various ports across Southern Africa handling port operations, inward freight and vessel chartering for bulk and containerized raw materials and agricultural products. Raffi is from New York, is of Armenian-Lebanese descent, and holds a B.A. in economics and international relations from Cornell University.
