The Feminist Coalition For Climate Change
Founded in 2024 through the Feminist Coalition Building Exercise by Samuel Hall and the UNDP Resilience Hub, the FCCC unites 17 members from 13 African countries (Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somaliland, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Morocco, Somalia, Cameroon).
Why this coalition matters: Climate impacts are deepening gender inequalities, women (who produce up to 80% of food in Sub-Saharan Africa) have less access to land, finance, and climate information, while shocks heighten risks of GBV and girls’ school dropouts; yet women hold vital indigenous knowledge and are key agents of change.
The FCCC brings together leaders and grassroots actors to address these critical evidence, policy, and finance gaps, ensuring women’s knowledge and voices shape climate decision-making
What We Do
Our work centres on four interconnected pillars:
1️⃣Advocacy: Elevating feminist perspectives in climate negotiations, policies, and global fora.
2️⃣Knowledge & Evidence: Generating and sharing research that highlights how climate, gender, and mobility intersect in real lives.
3️⃣Capacity Building: Strengthening the leadership and collective voice of women, youth, and Indigenous communities.
4️⃣Solidarity & Movement Building: Creating a collaborative space where members learn, connect, and mobilise for transformative climate justice.
➡️Our Vision: Feminist, Africa-led climate action rooted in equity, inclusion, and local realities.
