Lisa Pfister Research & Executive Assistant

Lisa Pfister
Research Programme Coordinator

Lisa joined Samuel Hall in January 2020 as an Executive and Research Assistant, and moved to a Project Lead position in 2022 and then became a Research Programme Coordinator. As a research programme coordinator, she takes a longer view of the company, its strategy and vision, going beyond carrying out specific activities, and works on and coordinates multi-year consortium-type projects. Since joning Samuel Hall, she has been working on research projects on youth integration, urban migration governance, social protection, labour relations, financial inclusion in East and West Africa, MENA, and Afghanistan for key clients, including the World Bank, FAO, WFP, ILO, and IOM. In her work, she applies an intersectional lens to understand inequalities and different lived experiences with innovative qualitative methods.

Lisa is part of the Equal Partnerships for Urban Migration Governance consortium which brings together urban migration actors from different contexts and levels of governance, and she is leading the field research in Kenya, Tunisia and Niger.

Prior to joining Samuel Hall, she was engaged in various organisations supporting refugees in Europe and worked with the African Union Cooperation Office of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Addis Ababa which focuses on strengthening the role of civil society in governance. Lisa has an MSc in Globalisation and Development from SOAS University of London, where she focused on the impact of globalisation processes on migration dynamics in the Global South and gendered dimensions of migration narratives. She holds a BA in Non-Profit and Social Management from the Management Centre Innsbruck where her dissertation explored the potential impact of displacement on gender relations with qualitative and quantitative data collection in the Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan.
