DEVYANI NIGHOSKAR

Advocacy and Storytelling Officer

Devyani is the Advocacy and Storytelling Officer at Samuel Hall. She joined Samuel Hall in November 2021 as a Junior Digital Communications Coordinator. Devyani holds a Masters degree in Critical Media and Cultural Studies from SOAS, University of London. 

Before joining Samuel Hall, Devyani worked as a journalist for over three years in India, covering development, gender, labour and social justice issues for a range of international publications such as Al Jazeera, New Internationalist, Newlines Magazine etc. You may check out some of her published work here.

Alongside journalism, Devyani has also pursued independent research and devised media projects for several non-profits. She has worked part-time as a lead social scientist for the India team of HACE, a data-start-up analysing cross-sectoral factors affecting child labour to drive change. Recently, she co-led an auto-ethnographic media project with a forest-dwelling nomadic tribal community in the Indian Himalayas. Devyani is passionate about using media and communications as a tool for development.
