Sebastiaan joined Samuel Hall in October 2016 as a Project Officer in Kabul, where he works on migration-related programming and tracking of migration flows. Sebastiaan previously worked with IOM as Programme Officer in Pakistan, where he reported on and monitored humanitarian programming and engaged with the shelter/NFI working group. Before living in Pakistan, Sebastiaan interned at IOM's Headquarters in Geneva, where he assisted IOM's formulation and roll-out of its humanitarian policy and wrote a report to IOM's member states on its global humanitarian work. Before joining IOM, Sebastiaan interned at the EU permanent representation in Geneva. Sebastiaan holds a BA in International Relations from Groningen University and a double degree MA from Groningen University and University College Dublin through the ECHO-funded Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA) programme.
